Applications are now open for Council's community leadership initiative, Nillumbik Leaders, designed to inspire, support, and upskill community members to become effective leaders and catalysts for positive change.

The highly successful program is a comprehensive nine-session journey that focuses on developing individual leadership skills, fostering community engagement, promoting diversity and inclusivity, and establishing a robust network of leaders and stakeholders within the Nillumbik community.

Nillumbik Mayor Ben Ramcharan said Council is excited to bring back the Nillumbik Leaders program for another year.

"This initiative aligns with our commitment to empowering our community members and nurturing a strong culture of leadership," Cr Ramcharan said.

"By equipping participants with the necessary skills and knowledge, we are investing in the future of our vibrant Shire."

The program will run fortnightly on Wednesday evenings from 17 July until 6 November at the Hurstbridge Community Hub.

Participants will explore various aspects of leadership, including understanding the inner workings of local government, breaking barriers to inclusive leadership, effective communication and conflict resolution, collective action and advocacy, and project planning and implementation.

To be eligible for the program, applicants must live, work, volunteer, study, or engage in recreational activities in Nillumbik and be aged 18 or over.

Applications for the Nillumbik Leaders program are open until Sunday 9 June and successful applicants will be notified on Monday 17 June.
