To be held at the Nagambie Library on Thursday March 3, 2022 from 11am to noon, the event is a chance to learn about all things waste and recycling.
Strathbogie Shire Council Mayor Cr Laura Binks said the workshop was a great opportunity to learn about Council's current three-bin system and how it works.
"You'll get the chance to learn how our waste system works and where it all ends up," Cr Binks said.
"There will also be the opportunity to learn some fantastic tips on how you get help to improve waste reduction and how to best sort your waste."
Cr Binks encouraged community members to bring along materials from your home that you aren't sure about.
"If you want to know if you can recycle certain items or how to best recycle them; bring them with you and get the exact answer from our local expert," Cr Binks said.
"The best thing about this event is you do not need to book - just turn up on the day - and it is free!"
There will also be an opportunity to view a breakdown of Council's proposed scenarios for the mandatory rollout of a four-bin kerbside collection service by 2025, which will see the introduction of a purple-lid glass bin which will be collected monthly.
"We recently launched our engagement for this project and we'd love to hear the community's thoughts," Cr Binks said.
Council is currently seeking community feedback via www.share.strathbogie.vic.gov.au/XXXX where residents can vote on their preferred scenario from three potential rollout options. If you find internet access challenging, keep an eye out for posters in key locations around your township and phone 1800 065 993 to place your vote.
