Community projects brought to life with latest round of TRC grants

A huge line-up of community projects will come to fruition with over 60 groups across the region to share in more than $430,000 of funding from Toowoomba Regional Council (TRC).

Council endorsed the second round of its Community Grants Funding program for the 2020-21 financial year at its April Ordinary Meeting.

Environment and Community Services Committee Chair Cr James O'Shea said the grants will fund community projects across the region supporting opportunity for growth and development.

"The Community Grants Funding program is open to the community two times a year and provides assistance to community organisations throughout the Toowoomba Region," Cr O'Shea said.

"Council is always working to enrich and enhance our region by providing funding for groups to complete upgrades or deliver new programs across areas such as sport and recreation, culture and the arts, the environment and events.

"In total $430,057 was approved in round two across six programs, which will be a huge support to those hard-working community groups which were successful in securing a grant and more importantly, will help sustain our smaller towns and villages.

"The Community Grant Funding program has helped a number of groups over the years and with COVID-19 having an impact on everyone right now, it's pleasing we're able to provide funding assistance.

"I am looking forward to seeing the projects and works delivered by our community groups as a result of the latest round of grants."
