Surf Coast Shire ratepayers may receive a phone call in the coming weeks as part of the 2025 Local Government Community Satisfaction Survey.

Australian based call centre National Field Services will interview 600 resident and non-resident ratepayers, asking for their perceptions of Council's performance across a range of service areas.

The annual survey is commissioned by the state government, with all local governments in Victoria able to participate.

Results are collated and analysed by independent researcher JWS Research.

Calls (to both landline and mobile) will begin on 31 January and are likely to continue for around a month.

The survey provides insight into the community's perception of Council's overall performance, benchmarking against state-wide and council group results.

Themes include:

  • overall council direction
  • local infrastructure, facilities and services
  • community consultation and engagement
  • decisions made in the interest of the community
  • customer service

Deputy Mayor Libby Stapleton said the results would be used to understand community ratings across a range of services, Council decisions and overall direction.

"This is a good chance for the community to provide feedback on how the Council is going, including what's working well and what can be improved," Cr Stapleton said.

"If you receive a call we encourage you to take the time to participate in the interview and give your honest opinions."

Individual responses are kept confidential, with only the overall results shared with the Council.

Researchers will ask for basic demographic information such as age, gender and location, but will never ask for personal details such as name, address or income.

If you have any questions about the program, please lodge a request or phone 5261 0600 and ask for the Coordinator Customer Experience.

The survey results are expected to be shared mid-year.
