Round 2 of the Community Sponsorship Program 2023/2024 will open 1 March and close 31 March. This funding opportunity enables Council to work in partnership with the Hawkesbury community to build a vibrant, connected, and liveable community.
There are three categories within the Community Sponsorship Program.
- Resilient Hawkesbury Council may provide funding to community programs that help to build a connected, healthy, inclusive and resilient Hawkesbury. Maximum funding of $3000.
- Participation Financial assistance may be provided to support the participation of residents who have been selected to represent the Hawkesbury in state, national, or international sporting competitions and cultural events. The level of contribution is $150 for individuals and $750 for a team of five or more.
- Access to Community Facilities Not for profit community groups located in the Hawkesbury or providing services to the Hawkesbury, can apply for financial assistance for a subsidy of 50% off the cost of hiring a Council or community facility up to a maximum contribution of $750.
In Round 1 of the 2023/2024 Community Sponsorship Program, Hawkesbury City Council supported Hawkesbury residents in sporting activities all over the world. Funding was given to individuals competing in the Canoe Championships in Denmark, BMX world championships in Scotland, Gymnastics championships in England, Tae Kwon Do championships in Perth, Netball nationals in QLD and Basketball events in NSW.
In the facilities category, Council subsidised the use of some community buildings and parks for activities such as the Hope for U walk and Hanna Park Carols. Within the Resilient Category, Council supported Reclaim the Night, Yoga classes at Colo Heights, Food Care and Market stalls at Windsor, and an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Senior's lunch.
Council is hoping to see diverse applications in the next round of the Community Sponsorship Program.
