Companies House CEO Honored in King's New Year List

Companies House Chief Executive Louise Smyth has been awarded the honour of Commander of the Order of the British Empire (CBE) for services to public life and the economy.

Louise Smyth, Chief Executive of Companies House, has been recognised in the King's New Year honours.

Louise, who is also Registrar of Companies for England and Wales, has been awarded the honour of Commander of the Order of the British Empire (CBE) for her services to public life and the economy.

Since joining Companies House in 2017, Louise has led the organisation through a time of immense change. This has included the implementation of an ambitious transformation programme and changes brought about by the Economic Crime and Corporate Transparency Act 2023. The act introduced some of most fundamental changes to UK company law in around 180 years.

Before joining Companies House Louise held a number of senior positions at the Intellectual Property Office (IPO), including Director of IT, Director of People, Places & Services and Chief Operating Officer.

As well as her roles as Companies House Chief Executive and Registrar of Companies, Louise has also been the Regulator of Community Interest Companies, since 2018. She is also the current serving president of the Corporate Registers Forum, an international association of corporate registries.
