Concern for fish at Lake Wyangan

This morning, Thursday 22 June 2023, Griffith City Council staff observed that a large number of fish in Lake Wyangan North were showing signs of distress which could result in a significant number of fish deaths.

The incident has been reported to the NSW Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and Department of Primary Industries (DPI).

Preliminary observations are that the affected fish appear to be European Carp fingerlings approximately 3-4 inches in size. No large fish or native species have been found at this stage.

There is no further information at this time, however Council will provide updates when received.
