One man said he felt 'a bit guilty' but 'couldn't help see the funny side' - what would you have done?
We've all made embarrassing mistakes in public and tried to laugh it off when we've realised what we've done.
So spare a thought for this poor lady who thought a trolley bay in a Tesco car park was a BUS STOP.
And who knows how long she was left standing there before she realised her error.
The image was caught on camera by Wayne Crossman, a HGV driver who was grabbing a spot of lunch at Tesco in Great Dunmow, Essex.
Wayne says the woman had asked him: "Do you know what time these things run?" but hadn't immediately understood her question.
It was only once he had got back into his lorry that he realised she had mistaken the trolley stand for a bus stop.
But Wayne says he didn't have the heart to tell her about her mistake - and watched her stand there for another 15 minutes while he ate his lunch.
She even got her book out to read while she leaned against the post and waited.
Wayne then drove away with the woman still standing there - so it's not clear how long she waited in the end.
Wayne, 35, said: "I had just dropped in around midday to grab some lunch and as I was coming out of the shop she was already stood at the area where you leave your trolleys.
"As I went past she said to me 'do you know what time these things run?'. I didn't really know what she was on about so I just apologised and carried on.
"I got in my lorry and sat eating my lunch and then looked back to see her leaning against the post and she had now got out a book and was reading.
"It then dawned on me what her question meant. She thought it was a bus stop.
"I couldn't believe it. I was laughing to myself quite a lot. It was clearly a trolley bay so I have no idea how she got mixed up.
"I thought about getting out to tell her but I didn't have the heart to do it. It was a nice day anyway. I think if it had been raining I would have had to get out and say something.
"She was there for the whole 15 minutes while I ate my lunch and didn't look like she was going anywhere when I drove away. I have no idea how long she ended up waiting in the end.
"I did feel a bit guilty for not telling her but then I couldn't help see the funny side of it so I should my friends the picture and they all thought it was hilarious.
"Lots of friends did say I should have told her - I suppose I should have. I am sure someone must have said something to her in the end.
"It makes me laugh every time I look at the picture. How long did she end up standing there?"
Hopefully someone else came along and told her about her mistake.
