Construction Begins On Broulee Road Roundabout

With school holidays coming to an end, construction has started on the roundabout at the intersection of George Bass Drive and Broulee Road. This significant infrastructure project will improve road safety for motorists, cyclists, and pedestrians, while also improving traffic flow in the area – particularly during peak periods.

With a total cost of $2.6 million, the project is being funded through a $2 million grant from the Australian Government's Black Spot Program and a $600,000 contribution from Council.

"This is a crucial project for the community," says Mayor Mathew Hatcher. "That intersection is a known black spot, and the Broulee Road roundabout will ensure a smoother and safer journey for everyone who uses it".

Preparation work, including the relocation of water pipes, were completed in December 2024.

"Crews will be on-site over the next few months, and we recommend commuters allow for extra travel time," says Mayor Hatcher. "It's a busy intersection so we'll do our best to keep traffic moving smoothly through the area".
