- Works start on new $41 million primary school in Eglinton
- Will cater for 620 students in the growing northern suburb
- School to include education support facility for 54 students
Construction has started on the exciting new $41 million Eglinton South West Primary School (planning name).
The new school in the northern suburb of Perth will cater for 620 students and provide enrolment relief to the growing Shorehaven Primary School.
It will include an administration, Kindergarten and Pre-primary area, double-storey teaching area, general learning areas, specialist rooms for art and science, library, covered assembly area, music room, car park, oval and hard courts.
It will also include an education support facility for approximately 54 students with classrooms, low stimulus rooms and therapy and sensory rooms.
The new school is scheduled to open for the start of the 2025 school year with some works continuing to mid-2025.
TAG Architects designed the new facilities and Merym Pty Ltd T/A EMCO Building are constructing them.
As stated by Education Minister Dr Tony Buti:
"I'm pleased to announce that construction has started on the new primary school in the growing area of Eglinton in Perth's north, providing enrolment relief to the nearby Shorehaven Primary School.
"The project is part of our Government's significant $1.5 billion capital works program to deliver better public schools across Western Australia."
As stated by Butler MLA John Quigley:
"This school will have modern facilities that will ensure students have exceptional learning opportunities.
"I know parents and the local community will be excited by this additional education option which will provide for families for years to come."
