Minister for Sport and Recreation, Yvette Berry today will announce the start of construction for the upgrades to the Phillip District Enclosed Oval.

The first stage of this project is a new stand-alone community sports pavilion and additional car parking spaces. Further works will also soon be progressed, including LED sportsground lighting, a new storage shed, new irrigation system, a new turf wicket and refurbishment of the existing Michael O'Connor Grandstand.

Minister for Sport and Recreation Yvette Berry said the upgrades will improve the usability of this much-loved Canberra facility.

"Today marks the official start of construction of the significant upgrades for Phillip District Enclosed Oval. This follows community engagement and consultation with local clubs.

"Thank you to Canberra Royals Rugby Union Football Club, Brumbies Rugby, Canberra Region Rugby League, Woden Valley Rams Rugby League Club, Weston Creek Molonglo Cricket Club and Cricket ACT for your engagement so far.

"The improved facility will provide a space close to home for the local community to get together and play sport."

The project is due to be completed in mid-2025.
