The development of the new community centre in Wollert East reached an exciting milestone this week, with the completion of the concrete foundation providing an expansive base for the highly-anticipated community services hub.
City of Whittlesea Administrator Peita Duncan was joined by The Hon. Lily D'Ambrosio MP and Bronwyn Halfpenny MP to inspect the progress of the future multi-purpose community centre and proudly oversaw the concrete pouring.
The centre, located on De Rossi Boulevard, will provide essential services to the booming population in the city's north. It will include a modern three‑room kindergarten, two fully equipped maternal and child health consulting suites, a community hall, meeting spaces for community groups and an outdoor area.
Administrator Peita Duncan welcomed this construction highlight, bringing local community services one step closer.
"It's wonderful to see this project ploughing ahead to accommodate the growing demand for services in Wollert," Ms Duncan said.
"With new families moving into this area every week, it's critical that our residents can access kindergarten and maternal and child health support nearby."
The centre is set to open in January 2022.

The City of Whittlesea has invested $7 million into this project and has received $2.75 million in funding from a Victorian Government Building Blocks grant.
