Construction of the $235 million, four-lane Beams Road overpass is now underway, which will increase road safety, improve pedestrian and active transport connections and support around 185 jobs.
As an important local road that connects communities in the northern suburbs of Brisbane, this project will help reduce congestion, resulting in better traffic flow and a smoother commute, particularly during peak traffic.
Works include site office establishment, installation of barriers, signage and line marking along with median removal, paving the way for the overpass.
The Australian Government has committed $56.24 million towards the project, with the Queensland Government contributing $138.76 million and a commitment of $40 million from Brisbane City Council.
The overpass is expected to be completed late 2026, weather and construction conditions permitting.
