- More than 800,000 visitors to Perth Zoo in the year to June
- Success underpinned by $51 million investment by the Cook Labor Government
Significant investment by the Cook Labor Government has made Perth Zoo the place to be in Perth, with Western Australia's premier zoo breaking its annual visitation record with 804,763 visits in the year to June.
The success comes on the back of continued investment in the zoo by the Cook Labor Government, which has put $51 million towards the Perth Zoo Master Plan.
Projects funded as part of this include a new caf precinct, a nature-based accessible playground and function centre, and the new Parkland Heart Precinct, which will include a state-of-the-art Primate Crossing.
Those facilities are due to open by early 2025.
The new visitation record also coincided with Perth Zoo's 125th birthday, as well as a popular event season that included the Wild Lights lantern festival, Zoocoustics music nights, and the Summer Sundowners series.
Other attractions included successful global breeding programs for the Goodfellow's Tree Kangaroo and Bolivian Squirrel Monkey, which provided opportunities for the people to connect with species they cannot see anywhere else in WA.

"With construction for the Primate Crossing project in full swing and works on the Parkland Heart Precinct underway, this is just the beginning of years of success for Perth Zoo."
