- New Jilbup Primary School in Hammond Park officially opened
- Sixth new WA public primary school opened since start of last year
- $27 million project is part of WA Labor Government's record $4.4 billion education infrastructure investment
Premier Roger Cook and Education Minister Dr Tony Buti today officially opened Perth's newest primary school in Hammond Park.
Jilbup Primary School opened its doors this year to students from kindergarten to year 6.
The new $27 million school features classrooms for general learning and specialty subjects such as art, music and science, as well as early childhood classrooms.
Other facilities include an enclosed undercover area, canteen, sports store, library and staffroom block, administration building, hard courts, oval, playgrounds, parking, and dental therapy centre.
The school runs a specialised autism learning program and has a dedicated inclusive education classroom for students with special educational needs.
It adds to a number of schools that have recently opened or completed major upgrades, including Henley Brook Primary School, Westminster Primary School and Education Support Centre, Dianella Secondary College, Lynwood Senior High School and South Bunbury Education Support Centre.
Since 2017, the Western Australian Labor Government has invested a record $4.4 billion in building and upgrading schools across the State.
As stated by Premier Roger Cook:
"It is wonderful to be in Hammond Park today for the official opening of the new Jilbup Primary School.
"My Government is committed to investing in our schools to ensure young Western Australians have access to quality learning environments, and have the best start to their education.
"This impressive new school was designed to provide shaded play spaces for young students, specialist and inclusive education classrooms and plenty of room for outdoor play.
"It is in a fantastic local area that is increasingly popular with families, who I am sure will welcome the new facilities for their children to enjoy."
As stated by Education Minister Dr Tony Buti:
"Jilbup Primary School is a welcome addition for families in the growing Hammond Park area and will provide relief for Hammond Park Primary School.
"Parents in the tight-knit community have been involved, enthusiastic and deeply committed to supporting the education of their children during the establishment of the school.
"I am confident Jilbup Primary School will ensure the educational needs of families in the expanding area of Hammond Park are met."
