Cook Govt Unveils Six New GROH Homes in Kununurra

  • Six new GROH properties delivered in Kununurra and built by Kimberley-based company Calsen Pty Ltd
  • Cook Government has invested more than $290 million in GROH since 2021-22

The Cook Labor Government has recently completed construction of six new homes for Government Regional Officer Housing (GROH) in Kununurra in the East Kimberley.

The two and four-bedroom homes were built by Kimberley-based builder Calsen Pty Ltd and can meet the housing needs of either families or singles in a shared household. Calsen Pty Ltd was contracted to deliver the six GROH dwellings following a Call for Submissions process.

The GROH program provides housing for Government employees including teachers, nurses, police and child protection workers in regional locations to ensure delivery of essential government services.

The Cook Labor Government is investing a record $4.5 billion in housing and homelessness across WA.

As stated by Housing Minister John Carey:

"Since 2021-22, the Cook Labor Government has committed nearly $300 million in new Government Regional Officer Housing and refurbishing existing stock.

"Ensuring regional communities have access to critical State Government workers, such as teachers and police officers, is essential for achieving strong communities.

"Another six new GROH properties in Kununurra will provide secure housing to our vital Government workers delivering crucial services to the local community."

As stated by Kimberley MLA Divina D'Anna:

"This is a fantastic outcome and I'm proud to see another six new Government Regional Officer Housing properties delivered by the Cook Labor Government in Kununurra.

"Our Government is investing in housing in regional areas, importantly, right here across the Kimberley and these GROH properties will provide homes to support policing, teaching and other critical government services."
