- $950,831 for essential upgrades to three crisis and transitional housing properties
- Zonta House provides family and domestic violence services to women and families in the Perth metro area
- $192.5 million grant funding contracted through the Cook Labor Government's Community Housing Grants Program
Zonta Housing Refuge Association has recently completed major upgrades to three crisis and transitional housing properties across the Perth metropolitan region, funded by the Cook Labor Government's Community Housing Grants program.
Zonta House is a specialist provider of family and domestic violence (FDV) services and has been assisting Western Australian women and families for more than 40 years.
The $950,831 refurbishment works included upgrades to kitchen, bathroom and laundry areas, additional bathrooms or rooms, new flooring, tiling, painting and landscaping. The upgrades will prolong the life of the properties and enable Zonta to continue providing safe and dignified accommodation for women and families escaping FDV.
Since July 2021, the Cook Labor Government has contracted more than $192.5 million in grant funding to community housing organisations and local government authorities for new builds, refurbishments and maintenance works.
As stated by Housing Minister John Carey:
"Alongside the Cook Government, community housing organisations like Zonta House are important providers of safe and secure housing for vulnerable Western Australians.
"Our Community Housing Grants Program is delivering new housing and targeted refurbishment, and maintenance works on ageing housing assets, to ensure they remain part of the State's stock of social housing for many years to come.
"The grants program is helping to increase the availability of social housing, create more fit-for-purpose housing and improve the conditions of properties for some of the most vulnerable people in our community.
"Vital projects like this form an important part of our Government's record $4.5 billion investment in housing and homelessness measures."
As stated by Prevention of Family and Domestic Violence Minister Sabine Winton:
"The Cook Government's highest priority is keeping victim-survivors of family and domestic violence safe.
"Zonta House does an incredible job in supporting victim-survivors across a range of family and domestic violence services.
"These upgrades to Zonta House's crisis and transitional housing properties will ensure that victim-survivors have a comfortable and safe environment to recover and re-establish their lives."
