Six lucky streets are set to be transformed over the coming months as part of Mildura Rural City Council's 2025 Cool It Street Program.

The program aims to create healthier and greener neighbourhoods, providing quality tree canopy cover by planting semi-mature trees in areas most in need.

The community was encouraged to nominate streets for consideration in late 2024, with dozens of nominations received.

Council has begun contacting residents of successful streets, which cover Mildura and Red Cliffs to detail the next stage of the program.

Plantings will take place from May 2025, and coincide with Council's 2025 tree planting program.

Councillor for Environmental and Sustainability Jodi Ewings congratulated the winning streets, and thanked those community members who showed an interest.

"This exciting program has proven a great success over the past few years, ensuring more trees are being planted in areas of need," Cr Ewings said.

"The benefits of the Cool it Street Program are to provide shade where there is none, improve streetscape amenities and walkability and showcase how we can better adapt to climate change."
