We are investing $50 million in the Australia-Pacific Partnership for Energy Transition.
Minister Bowen announced the partnership at COP29 on 16 November. The partnership will support Pacific countries to shift away from fossil fuels and help improve energy security and affordability.
The partnership will:
- equip countries in the region with the tools, skills and knowledge to progress their energy transitions
- support policy that helps scale up grid-based renewable energy.
DCCEEW will support a range of projects under the partnership. These will involve Pacific governments, energy operators, energy transition experts, universities and others.
Examples of practical support include:
- energy transition modelling
- grid studies
- renewable energy project feasibility studies
- university collaborations.
Climate change is a collective challenge - and working together with our partners will be key to addressing it.
