Detectives from Moranbah Criminal Investigation Branch, with the assistance of Detectives from the Crime and Intelligence Command, have charged two men after the alleged theft of copper and damage to mining equipment at a mine site at Tieri.
It Is alleged the theft and damage valued in excess of $500,000 occurred between June 1 and June 10, with police investigations leading to several search warrants being executed at Dysart yesterday, June 11.
A 57-year-old Dysart man has been charged with three offences, including one count of stealing property of value exceeding $5000, one count of receiving tainted property derived from a crime, and one count of producing dangerous drugs.
A 43-year-old Dysart man has been charged with one count of stealing property of value exceeding $5000.
Both men are due to appear before Moranbah Magistrates Court on July 11.
Detective Sergeant Sheldon Livingstone said ongoing investigations and further arrests in relation to property offences can be expected.
"We are committed to driving down theft and property offences within the Moranbah area and take these matters very seriously," said Detective Sergeant Livingstone.
