Copper Wire Theft Charge At Ipswich

Ipswich detectives have charged a man after copper wire was allegedly stolen from a telecommunications site in Ipswich on May 4.

It will be alleged at approximately 1am, the man attended the location at Riverview and stole approximately $10,000 worth of copper cable.

The stolen wire was recovered that same day as a result of police actions.

A 43-year-old Redbank Plains man was today arrested and charged with one count each of unlawful use of motor vehicle and stealing.

He was refused police bail and is due to appear at the Ipswich Magistrates Court today.
