Coronation Partners With Habitat for Humanity Australia

Coronation + Habitat for Humanity Australia

Leading Australian developer and builder, Coronation Property Group ('Coronation') is delighted to announce a new partnership with Habitat for Humanity Australia, sponsoring their Habitat Women Work Ready program (Program) for 2025.

The Program is a 12-week training initiative which empowers women, who have faced barriers to employment, to enter the construction and maintenance industries. Through this program, participants gain essential accreditations and hands-on skills in construction, boosting both their confidence and employability.

Coronation Managing Director Joe Nahas said the partnership will result in up to 60 women becoming construction 'work ready', in line with Coronation's commitment to increasing the proportion of women in the NSW construction sector, which is historically male dominated.

Not only is meaningful employment a source of economic independence for women, the sector also benefits through enhanced diversity of thought and opinion, driving better outcomes for everyone. Coronation is experiencing first hand the benefits of having a balanced senior leadership team, with men and women each making up 50% of the group.

"We're pleased that we successfully launched the partnership last month when our Coronation team worked with ten women from the Habitat Women Work Ready Program to to transform a vacant house owned by Coronation in St Peters, into temporary accommodation for families in need," Joe Nahas explained.

"It was a great effort, providing on the job training for women in the construction industry and delivering urgently-needed meanwhile use transitional accommodation for women in need. That's why Coronation looks forward to sponsoring the Program and providing engagement with the participants at our sites across Sydney."

Managed by Habitat for Humanity Australia, the refurbished Coronation property has already provided housing for two families, including a single mother and her child being supported by the Aboriginal Women & Children's Crisis Service (AWCCS). To date, there have been numerous challenges finding suitable affordable accomodation for the family.

Habitat for Humanity Australia's Head of Australian Programs, Queenie Tran has welcomed this partnership as a transformational opportunity for women in the program.

"Women enter our Program to build their skills and confidence to participate in this male dominated industry. Many of the women in our Program have experienced barriers to employment and are now on a pathway towards a job, safety, economic independence and freedom," Ms Tran said.

"To be employed in our Habitat Women crews, utilising their skills to support our community, has been incredibly rewarding.

Partnering with Coronation is providing our Habitat Women trainees and crew the opportunity to get 'hands on' experience in the construction and maintenance industry, with a fantastic outcome."

Coronation is leading the industry by using their philanthropy to drive social impact and will continue to invest in initiatives and programs that are creating tangible, positive change in individuals and communities.

Coronation's Head of Social Impact, Charlotte Dillon, said that this partnership with Habitat not only provides much-needed emergency housing in the middle of a chronic housing shortage, but also offers longer term support of a program that empowers women and transforms their lives.

"Our partnership with Habitat for Humanity Australia is an example of what can be achieved when two organisations with a common goal work together. We know there is more to do which is why we are committed to increasing the provision of housing for women and supporting greater participation of women in the NSW construction industry," Ms Dillon said.

NSW Minister for Housing and Homelessness Rose Jackson and NSW Minister for Women and the Prevention of Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault Jodie Harrison, recently visited the St Peters site, to inspect the work on the home and commended everyone taking-part in the Coronation and Habitat for Humanity Australia partnership.
