Police have been directed by the NSW Coroner to investigate the death of a two-year-old boy from Sydney's Northern Beaches in September last year.
On Thursday 27 February 2025, officers attached to Northern Beaches Police Area Command launched an investigation, under Strike Force Carlton, into the death of the child at Sydney's Childrens Hospital, at Randwick.
The child's parents took their son to Northern Beaches Hospital for initial treatment before he was transported to Sydney Children's Hospital Randwick where he later died.
The death was not reported to police at the time.
On Thursday 27 February 2025, police reported the death retrospectively to the NSW Coroner and an investigation was launched by Northern Beaches Police Area Command.
The brief will be prepared for the Coroner.
