Bayside Council has adopted an updated Muddy Creek Masterplan that includes an additional 21 parking spaces.
Council adopted the Muddy Creek (Studdert Reserve) Function Plan and Staging Plans at a Council Meeting on 26 June 2024, but resolved to extend the 90-degree parking shown in the Masterplan.
The plan has now been updated to include an additional 21 parking spaces, or a total of 66 spaces altogether including accessible parking spaces.
A provision of $100,000 was made in the 2024/25 budget to move the Masterplan into the detailed design phase.
Council also approved an additional $250,000 to make the waterfront area safe, to open a section of the foreshore to the public as soon as possible, and to control access to limit anti-social behaviour.
The Cooks River Alliance successfully applied for a Commonwealth Urban Rivers and Catchments grant, which included a $300,000 provision for Bayside Council to provide a non-motorised watercraft launching facility to augment the Cooks River Paddle Trail.
This funding will be used to convert the Muddy Creek boat ramp to a paddle craft launching facility, in accordance with the Masterplan and subject to landowner's consent.
