Snowy Monaro Regional Council is working with the Alpine Uniting Church to expand its facilities and services to better support the Snowy Monaro community thanks to a Black Summer Bushfire Recovery grant.
Council acknowledges that the Alpine Uniting Church Jindabyne Op Shop is a vital community hub, providing clothing, food security, and community connection and are supporting the initiative with crucial project management assistance.
The grant has enabled the Church to construct a storeroom extension, improving its ability to store and distribute perishable and non-perishable food items. Future project stages will further enhance the Church's capacity to serve the community in a safer, more resilient environment.
The op shop and food pantry, staffed by dedicated volunteers, provide heavily subsidised essential items and free meals to thousands of people annually. The Church also partners with numerous community organisations to offer a wide range of support services and activities.
Council is committed to supporting local community groups in their invaluable work to support communities across the Snowy Monaro.
This project is proudly funded by the Australian Government's Black Summer Bushfire Recovery Grants Program.
