Council and Sustainable Snowies hosted a cleanup day with 44 enthusiastic volunteers braving the difficult weather conditions on Saturday 6 May 2023 along the iconic Jindabyne foreshore.
Volunteers filled three red-lidded bins and one and a half recycling bins, in addition to clearing a trailer load of hard waste – including four trolleys. The effort and commitment shown by the participants truly exemplified the spirit of our wonderful community.
Sustainable Snowies would like to express their gratitude to Jindabyne Woolworths for their generous donation of fresh fruit and water bottles, as well as to Thredbo, Perisher, and the Snowy Monaro Regional Council for their valuable contributions.
Mayor Narelle Davis joined in collecting rubbish. Reflecting on the day's success, the Mayor Davis said, "the turnout and enthusiasm displayed by our community in such challenging weather conditions is truly commendable. It is heart-warming to witness the passion and dedication our residents have for keeping our region clean."
Wollondilly Councillor Hilton Gibbs happened to be holidaying in the region and was delighted to be part of the clean-up effort.
Sustainable Snowies is excited to announce the next cleanup event is scheduled for October 2023, after the busy winter season. This will provide another excellent opportunity for locals and visitors to come together and contribute to keeping our Snowy Monaro beautiful.
