Many residents and businesses adorned their homes with festive lights and decorations as part of Federation Council's annual 'Light Up Federation' Christmas Lights Competition.
Federation Council Mayor, Cr Cheryl Cook said all of the registered displays were very impressive and she was pleased to be announcing the annual winners.
"I commend all residents who have taken the time to decorate their homes and brighten up our streets and businesses," she said.
"It was made so obvious this year just how much time and effort our residents put into bringing their displays to life, and it was great to see so many get involved and so many families out and about enjoying the magic of Christmas in Federation."
Congratulations to the following winners of the 2024 Light Up Federation competition:
- BEST DECORATED HOUSE - 8 Bank Street, Howlong.
- BEST DECORATED STREET – O'Brien Court, Corowa.
- BEST DECORATED BUSINESS – Chester's Transport, Corowa.
- PEOPLE'S CHOICE AWARD - Corowa Curtains and Decor.
Entries were judged on first impression, creative design - attractive use of light and colour, showmanship – creativity and uniqueness / Christmas theme and the use of non-lighting decorations and atmosphere.
The staff at Corowa Curtains and Décor have taken out the 2024 People's Choice Award with their amazing winter wonderland window display. The 27 Sanger Street display received 26 votes to take out the top prize out of twenty-one entrants across the Council area. The winner of the People's Choice Award was the house, street or business with the most online votes.
- The winner of the Best Decorated House will receive $600 of gift vouchers.
- The Best Decorated Business will receive $200 of gift vouchers plus a decal for their business window.
- The People's Choice Award will receive $200 of gift vouchers.
- The Best Decorated Street will have a custom sign recognising their achievement, that is attached to their local street sign.
The winners of the 2024 Light Up Federation Christmas Lights Competition Winners will be notified via email or phone and can opt to redeem their vouchers or gift cards at a choice of two businesses within the Federation Council area.
