Applications will open next month for a further round of Ararat Rural City Council's Community Grants Program.
The program proudly supports local sporting clubs and community groups and organisations with funding to implement community-led initiatives to increase engagement in sports and recreation, cultural events, arts accessibility, and sustainability initiatives.
Local organisations are invited to submit their applications for grants of up to $5,000 on a two-for-one basis across four distinct categories: sports/recreation and health/well-being, culture and arts, environment and sustainability, and events.
In the previous round, Council awarded six organisations with grant funding totaling $17,780.
Recipients included:
- Ararat & District Historical Society, to support their School's Engagement Project - "Linking our Future and our Past".
- Ararat Railway Heritage Association, to purchase a display showcase for the museum to house donated memorabilia.
- Ararat Rifle Club, for the installation of Stage 2 of Target Marking System.
- Elmhurst Fire Brigade, to purchase of expandable temporary safety barriers for members to undertake training on the service road.
- Pomonal Primary School, to support the 2025 Pomonal Art Show.
- Western Highway Shootout Show & Shine, to support a free community event to provide relief to the community post the region's bushfires.
"We're investing directly in initiatives that matter to our community," says Ararat Rural City Council Mayor, Cr Jo Armstrong.
"This program provides crucial financial support for projects that boost participation in sports, celebrate our culture, enhance community well-being, and promote sustainability. If your local group or organisation is considering a new project or initiative, we strongly encourage you to submit your application".
Applications for the upcoming round of Ararat Rural City Council's Community and Events Grants Program will open from 1 April 2025, until 30 April 2025 at 5:00 PM. Interested groups can apply online at www.ararat.vic.gov.au or obtain hard copy applications from municipal offices.
