Council Applauds Resident Participation in SRV Engagement

Councillor Andrew Kennedy and Jo Shannon

Federation Council has expressed its sincere gratitude to residents for their active participation in pop-up engagement sessions held across Corowa, Mulwala, Howlong, and Urana over the past two days.

Federation Council Mayor, Cr Cheryl Cook said the sessions provided an opportunity for ratepayers to learn more about the Council's Special Rate Variation (SRV) application, provide valuable feedback, and utilize the general rates estimator.

"We are incredibly thankful to everyone who took the time to come along to our pop-up sessions," said Mayor Cook.

"The feedback we've received is invaluable and will continue to play a crucial role in shaping our decision-making process. It's fantastic to see our community so engaged and willing to contribute to the future sustainability of our region."

Residents actively utilized the general rates estimator, gaining a clearer understanding of the potential impact of the proposed SRV.

"It's important that our ratepayers have access to clear and transparent information," Mayor Cook said. "The rates estimator is a valuable tool, and we're pleased so many residents have been utilising it to understand how the rate increases could impact them."

For those who were unable to attend the pop-up sessions, Council is offering one-on-one meetings with the Chief Financial Officer to discuss the proposed rate increases.

"We understand that not everyone could make it to the sessions," Mayor Cook said.

"We encourage anyone with questions or concerns to contact Council and arrange a meeting with our CFO. We're committed to ensuring everyone has the opportunity to have their questions answered."
