On Tuesday night, Councillors appointed Kerry Thompson as the Acting Chief Executive Officer for Hobsons Bay. Ms Thompson, who will commence in the role on Monday 3 March 2025, has over 25 years' experience working in senior roles within the Government sector, most recently as the Chief Executive Officer at the Municipal Association of Victoria.
She has also held Chief Executive roles at the City of Wyndham and City of Maribyrnong and is a Board Director at cohealth and Vision Super.
Mayor of Hobsons Bay, Cr Daria Kellander, said "As the organisation moves through formal external and internal investigations, it is important that we now have a highly experienced person in the role of Acting CEO," she said.
"Our current Acting CEO, Rachel Lunn, has done an amazing job over the past weeks to guide the organisation through this challenging time, supporting staff and the continuity of Council Services, and beginning the process of planning for future improvements.
"Rachel will continue to be part of this work, driving positive organisational change and working closely with myself and Councillors, as a member of our Executive Team. She will return to her substantive role as Director, Sustainable Communities on Monday 3 March."
The Mayor said she was pleased to welcome Kerry to the acting role.
"Kerry will not only lead the organisation through the next period of investigations and organisational improvements in the areas of safety, risk and governance, she will also be overseeing the initiation of the development and delivery of our new Council Plan, budget and other key pieces of work for our community." she said.
"We look forward to working closely with Kerry and the Executive Team during this interim period."
