Wollondilly Shire Council has moved forward on a new contract for the management and operation of its swimming pools, going through a detailed tender process to ensure the best outcome could be achieved for the community.
Council has awarded the contract to Belgravia Health and Leisure Group Pty Ltd, following an open and competitive tender process including independent financial assessment.
Council will now move to the next step of transitioning the management of both the Wollondilly Leisure Centre and Warragamba Swimming Pool to the new operator, with a changeover period under way.
Mayor Matt Gould said, "Throughout the process, we have sought to get the best outcome including service quality and price for the operation of our swimming pools, on behalf of our communities."
"We expect that there will be minimal disruption to users and no changes to fees during the transition period, as the necessary adjustments are made. We know how important these facilities are for the health and wellbeing of our residents."
"We hope that all the work that has already been done at the Wollondilly Leisure Centre and at the Warragamba Pool can be developed even further, leading to even more residents joining up and taking advantage of these great community spaces."
Under the Local Government Act the tender report will remain confidential so as not to give a commercial advantage to anyone with whom Council is conducting business.
Council expects that local employees will continue to be engaged by the new operator.
Council has thanked Bluefit for their valued support of Wollondilly's facilities and appreciates their commitment to a successful transition.
