Council Boosts Volunteer Network with New Policy

Moira Shire Council has adopted an all-new Volunteering Policy to create a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment for volunteers engaged in Council-led initiatives, such as social and sporting events, tourism activities and more.

The policy was officially adopted at the October Scheduled Council Meeting following a consultation period which welcomed feedback from residents. Council's Chair Administrator Dr Graeme Emonson PSM is grateful for the community's participation and input.

"The new Volunteering Policy sets clear guidelines for providing volunteer support, while upholding the principles of fairness, safety, and respect. It outlines responsibilities for both Council and volunteers, ensuring mutual benefit and a positive experience for everyone involved," Dr Emonson said.

"Council looks forward to continuing its work with the volunteer community to build a vibrant and engaged Moira Shire. We encourage residents to explore the opportunities available and to consider volunteering in future community projects."

The policy will further strengthen the region's volunteer network, ensuring volunteers are well- supported in their roles and can contribute effectively to local events and services.
