A new $720,000 three-year funding allocation from the Moira Shire Council will boost tourism and events in Yarrawonga Mulwala.
Council has endorsed a new three-year funding agreement with the Yarrawonga Mulwala Tourism Board (YMTB), with an annual contribution of $240,000 which is an increase of over 9% from previous years.
The funding boost will provide certainty for YMTB in planning future events and supporting the Yarrawonga Visitor Information Centre, as well as enabling the coordination and attraction of new events and activities.
The Yarrawonga Mulwala Tourism Board plans and delivers major tourism events in Yarrawonga, including the EC Griffith Cup (Yarrawonga Power Boat Spectacular & Fair), the Lake Mulwala Rod Run and the senior's tennis tournament.
"Tourism provides substantial local jobs and other community benefits, and this funding is a critical step forward for tourism in Yarrawonga Mulwala," Moira Shire Council Chair Administrator Dr Graeme Emonson PSA said.
"The services provided through the Visitor Information Centre and through coordinating major events are critical. This new agreement will provide certainty to help boost local tourism activities and event attraction."
