Council changes services in wake of latest lockdown

Orange City Council has changed the services it's delivering to the community following the weekend decision to begin a seven-day COVID lockdown.

Orange CEO David Waddell said the changes were aimed at keeping the community and Council staff COVID safe while maintaining the critical services that keep the city operating smoothly.

"The community of Orange has been here before. We know what it takes to keep safe and get through this lockdown together. The Council team also knows how to work through a lockdown and keep the city operating," Mr Waddell said.

Mr Waddell urged the community to follow the orders of NSW Health in this critical moment across the region.

These Council venues are closed:

  • Civic Centre
  • Visitor Information Centre
  • The Aquatic Centre
  • Orange Regional Museum
  • Orange Regional Art Gallery
  • Orange City Library
  • Civic Theatre and Ticketek Office
  • The Recovery Shop at Ophir Road Resource Recovery Centre

These Council venues remain open:

  • All Council Childcare centres are open
  • The Ophir Road Resource Recovery Centre is still open for routine waste disposal.

Council's Colour City Caravan Park is closed to the public. However, in line with the public health order caravan parks are open to:

  • permanent residents or other people who have no other place of permanent residence, and their visitors
  • people who were staying there on Thursday 5 August and have not extended their booking
  • local workers and overnight travellers.
