Preparations are underway for the annual Mitchell Shire Community Awards and Citizenship Ceremony on Australia Day, Wednesday 26 January.
The 2022 edition of the celebrations are being organised by the Rotary Club of Southern Mitchell and will be held at Island Reserve, High Street, Broadford.
The day begins at 7am with a barbecue breakfast, thanks to the Broadford Lions Club.
There will be live music from the Van-Yt Band as well as market stalls, community displays, a food court and bar, the Historic Precinct and a Tug-O-War challenge.
The kids will also be entertained with face painting, pony rides, Snake Safe demonstrations and much more.
This will be followed by Mitchell Shire Council's Community Awards, where five categories will be awarded:
- Citizen of the Year
- Young Citizen of the Year
- Access and Inclusion Champion
- Community Group of the Year
- Online or Community Event of the Year
The Citizenship Ceremony will be conducted after the awards.
