At last week's Council meeting, Council decided to continue with the same format for Australia Day celebrations in 2025, replicating the successful approach from 2024.
Council will also support the return of an Australia Day breakfast or similar event in Swan Hill subject to finding a willing community group to host the event, an expression of interest process will be undertaken.
Council's Mayor, Cr. Stuart King, explained that this decision followed a community consultation process.
"The consultation aimed to gather insights about how to enhance our Australia Day events and activities for 2025, with the aim of bringing unity to our community. We received 77 contributions," Cr. King said.
The consultation reviewed all aspects of the 2024 celebrations, which occurred on Thursday, 25 January and Friday, 26 January across Swan Hill, Robinvale, and surrounding towns.
"We are thrilled to confirm the format for 2025 and look forward to celebrating with our communities. The 2025 celebrations will include Citizenship and Awards Ceremonies on 25 January, with the Robinvale ceremony at the Robinvale Performing Arts Centre during the day and the Swan Hill ceremony at the Swan Hill Town Hall Performing Arts Centre in the evening," Cr. King added.
"Shared Connections events will be held on 26 January, with the Swan Hill event taking place at Riverside Park in the late afternoon," he said.
