Hello and welcome to this week's Council video. I'm Alexandria Carruthers, Councillor for C Ward, and Deputy Mayor, for those of you I haven't met yet.
I'll jump right into our updates for this week. The Clarence Town Structure Plan has been endorsed by Council for community consultation. It's going to start next Wednesday, 12 February. There will also be, as part of that, some opportunities for face-to-face feedback with the Council on the draft. Those dates will be published soon, but we'll be looking at markets, places that are central in town where everyone goes, so we can really engage and get your thoughts and views and opinions on what this plan looks like in its draft form, what needs to change, and how you'd like it to end up being in the final format. So looking forward to that. The draft will be published on the website, but there'll also be some printed versions placed around the shire as well for people to view. So if you know someone that wants to view the plans and maybe doesn't have online access or is not so great with technology, help them out, let them know it's around, and help them navigate.
What else have we got coming up? Bulky waste. We've all been seeing a few things out the front of people's places around the Shire at the moment, so that's well underway and will be underway until 7 March. I've enjoyed seeing people posting different finds and things on Facebook. What a way to bring a community together. One man's trash is another man's treasure, as they say.
We also have the free pet microchip day tomorrow at the Doug Walters Pavilion. So, if you've got a pet that needs a microchip, this is completely free for you. You don't need to book; just come along. We'll put the times below of when you can do that. So that'll be tomorrow, Saturday, 8 February.
And just one final thing for this week: the off-leash dog park survey is closing this Sunday, so if you haven't got your feedback in yet, it only takes two minutes. You can access it via the website, or there are some posts on Facebook as well where you can just click straight through. It's important that we get everyone's feedback on this so that we can get the off-leash dog park for Dungog right and reflect what it is that our community wants in this space. We've heard that you want one, but how that ends up looking and feeling for us needs to come from the community.
In other news, the Councillors are doing a tour of the Shire tomorrow, and I'm very much looking forward to joining the other Councillors in taking a look around the place. As part of the agenda, we'll also be looking at the viewing locations. We moved a motion at the end of last year to see what spots around the Shire we could develop some viewing spots in a safe way. I know that there are a lot of people that do pull over to the side of the road and take those magnificent views that we have around the Shire, but we're looking at making that a bit safer and something that that the community can own. I'm really looking forward to having a look at a few of those spots tomorrow with the other Councillors, and hopefully, we'll have more to update the community with on that one.
Thank you. Bye.
