The Council will distribute $335,000 across 24 community projects as part of the Australian Government's drought funding program.
The Council received $1million in funding from the Australian Government's Drought Communities Programme with Benalla being recognised as experiencing hardship due to the drought.
The funding is to complete local infrastructure and other drought relief projects.
Applications from a high number of community groups were received and assessed against criteria set by the Australian Government.
Benalla Rural City Council Chief Executive Officer Dom Testoni said getting this funding out into the community will have multiple benefits.
"All the applicant groups, and the individuals within those groups, do a mountain of work within our community and we thank them for the time and effort they put into that important contribution," Mr Testoni said.
"We are pleased to be able to fund these 24 projects, which represent a broad geographic spread across the municipality, different age brackets and project types.
"Having this funding with these community groups, which will largely be spent locally, will also play a role in helping the Benalla Rural City economy through these very tough and ongoing COVID-19 times."
