As part of Council's Asset Management Program, we will soon carry out a condition survey of our 150km footpath network. This work will help us develop effective renewal and maintenance strategies to improve safety and mobility for this important community asset.
This work will be carried out by Council's contractor, Infrastructure Management Group.
From Wednesday, 2 October 2024, residents will see quad bike-style vehicles equipped with cameras traveling at a brisk walking pace along public footways. These vehicles, operated by certified inspectors, will have hazard lighting and warning devices active. They are clearly identifiable and will prioritise pedestrian safety. The condition survey is scheduled to take one week, weather dependant.
Cameras used in this survey will be directed solely at footpath surfaces, with minimal views of surrounding areas. No recordings of private, commercial, or residential properties will occur.
The data collected will enable Council to refine maintenance and renewal strategies, improving footpath connectivity, mobility, and safety for everyone.
Council appreciates your patience and cooperation during this essential assessment and looks forward to the enhanced benefits it will bring to our community's footpaths.
