Swan Hill Rural City Council is thrilled to invite the community to participate in an impressive array of events happening next weekend, to celebrate Australia Day 2025.

Mayor Cr Stuart King highlighted that the festivities would kick off on Saturday, 25 January, with Citizenship Ceremonies and Australia Day Award Ceremonies in Robinvale and Swan Hill.

"These ceremonies honour our newest citizens, celebrate the remarkable contributions of Australia Day Award recipients, including the coveted Citizen of the Year and Community Event of the Year Awards, and recognise the efforts of local students.

"It is always inspiring to hear the stories of those who make a difference in our community," Cr King said.

Cr King said on Sunday 26 January, there will be several events being held right across the municipality.

"Australia Day Breakfasts are a cherished tradition, bringing people together to enjoy great food and entertainment while celebrating what it means to be an Australian in our vibrant communities. It is also fantastic to see some of our passionate service groups band together to bring back the Swan Hill breakfast in Riverside Park this year."

"All of these events make Australia Day a truly inclusive celebration and I encourage everyone to take part in the festivities and enjoy what promises to be a fabulous weekend," said Cr King.

Cr King said the weekend's celebrations would culminate with the Shared Connections Event on Sunday evening, from 6pm to 9pm at Riverside Park in Swan Hill.

"This event is a celebration of culture and community, showcasing Swan Hill's incredible diversity through storytelling, performances, and shared experiences.

"It's a truly meaningful way to wrap up the weekend, fostering deeper connections within our community. I'm especially excited about the opportunity to commemorate the day together, both at dawn and dusk," he added.
