Council is delighted to advise that Library Technician Susie Rowe has been honoured with the NSW Public Libraries Association (NSWPLA) Multicultural Excellence Award. This prestigious award, sponsored by CAVAL, is presented annually by the Working Group on Multicultural Library Services (WGMLS) to recognise outstanding contributions in the delivery of multicultural library services.
Library Supervisor Rachel Cody, who nominated Susie for the award, said, "When I saw the nominations for this award I immediately thought of Susie whose passion for service and her unwavering commitment to the welfare of others made her a deserving candidate. The Multicultural Excellence Award is a recognition of her tireless efforts and invaluable contributions she continues to make in enriching the lives of those in our multicultural community.
"Susie is an outstanding advocate for multiculturalism, demonstrating exceptional leadership and dedication to fostering inclusivity. She has been instrumental in promoting cultural understanding within our community, organising diverse events that celebrate cultures in our region.
"Susie has initiated programs that bridge cultural gaps, offering language support and hosting cross-cultural workshops that create a welcoming environment for people from all backgrounds. Her work has significantly impacted local migrant and refugee communities by providing resources, mentoring, and personal support," she said.
The award presentation took place on Monday, 16 December, and was attended by Kim Mason and Karen Wendt from Riverina Regional Library (RRL), Director Economic & Community Development Michelle Evans, General Manager Jackie Kruger, Library Assistant Alesha Kelly, and Susie's husband, Mark Rowe.
