Cessnock City Council has opened its latest round of Community, Sporting and Environment Grants, with a total of $96,000 available to support initiatives that enhance community life across the Cessnock Local Government Area (LGA).

The grants are designed to support local community, environment and sporting groups with funding for minor capital works or equipment purchases, and projects that boost community engagement, wellbeing and cultural growth, enhance the local environment, or foster community pride.

Local organisations or community groups are invited to apply for funding across four categories:

  • Sporting Facilities
  • Community Facilities
  • Sustainable Communities
  • Community and Cultural Development.

Cessnock City Mayor Jay Suvaal noted the last year Council proudly funded 35 impactful projects across the LGA.

"The strength of Cessnock lies in its vibrant community and dedicated organisations," said Clr Suvaal.

"This grant program reflects Council's commitment to supporting those who work tirelessly to improve our local environment, cultural scene and sporting facilities, and I encourage all eligible groups to apply."

"By investing in local projects, we are not only improving our facilities, but we foster a more engaged community."

Applications for the current round of grants will close at 5pm Friday 13 September 2024. Successful applicants to be notified of the outcome in December 2024.

Prospective applicants are encouraged to review the grant guidelines including eligibility criteria on Council's website www.cessnock.nsw.gov.au/grants, where you can also find the application form.
