Council Launches Digital Literacy Program

Ararat Rural City Council encourages residents to take advantage of its Digital Literacy Outreach Program, an initiative aimed at improving digital technology skills across the community.

The program provides a supportive environment to build confidence and skills in using the internet, from search engines to sending emails, as well as completing essential government forms and other requirements online.

The sessions will also cover how to use the internet safely, including how to identify and avoid scams online, protecting your information from data breaches, managing social media security and checking the effectiveness of antivirus software.

Digital Literacy Outreach Program drop-in sessions are held across the municipality at the following times and locations:

  • Mondays from 11am - 1pm at Willaura Memorial Hall
  • Tuesdays from 10am - 12pm at Elmhurst Bush Nursing Centre:
  • Wednesdays from 10am - 12pm at Pomonal Community Hall
  • Thursdays from 1pm - 3pm at Ararat Library

Tutoring sessions are also available at all above-mentioned locations, and at the Lake Bolac Business & Information Centre on Monday afternoons (with some flexibility), and Moyston Town Hall on Tuesday afternoons (also with some flexibility).
