Council Launches Flood Recovery Grants Program

Swan Hill Rural City Council, in collaboration with the Australian Federal and Victorian State Governments has announced Community Flood Recovery and Resilience Grants Program.

Council's Mayor Cr Stuart King said the funding acknowledges the profound impact of the October 2022 flood event on individuals, families, and community service organisations across the region.

"In response to the ongoing needs of the community in recovering from this significant event, Council, alongside Emergency Recovery Victoria, through the Community Recovery Hubs program, is pleased to announce the launch of the Community Flood Recovery and Resilience Grants.

"This program has been designed to provide support to eligible community organisations by funding events, activities, programs, and projects aimed at enhancing community resilience and aiding in the recovery process," Cr King said.

Cr King expressed the Council's commitment to assisting local groups in rebuilding and strengthening their communities.

"These grants are a crucial step towards supporting those impacted communities to recover and become more resilient in the face of future challenges," he said.

Eligible organisations are encouraged to apply for funding through this program to facilitate initiatives that promote community cohesion, preparedness, and long-term recovery efforts.

Applications for the Community Flood Recovery and Resilience Grants will open on Thursday, 1 August 2024.

Grants are available to all eligible organisations within or who service the municipality.

Applicants can apply for up to $5,000 per application.

The program will be open on 1 August and stay open until 31 January, or until all funds are exhausted.

Applicants will be notified of their outcome within 6 weeks of application submission.
