Council launches inaugural Local Matters Forum in Marrickville

Inner West Council

Inner West Council's first Local Matters Forum last night was enthusiastically embraced by local Marrickville residents.

At a standing-room-only meeting at Marrickville Pavilion, local residents raised issues of importance to them including over development, Development Approvals, heritage and conservation, traffic and parking, street trees and footpaths.

Last night's Local Matters Forum was the first in a series of face-to-face forums where Ward Councillors and Council executive staff will meet with Inner West citizens, listen to their ideas and concerns and discuss how local communities can be improved.

Mayor Darcy Byrne and Deputy Mayor Jessica D'Arienzo attended with local Marrickville / Midjuburi (Lillypilly) Ward Councillors Mat Howard, Zoi Tsardoulias and Justine Langford.

During the forum, staff recorded all issues raised by residents and will ensure responses are provided after the meeting.

The Forums are a vital component in Council's new era of engagement, consultation and customer service.

Future Forums will be rotated across the various Council wards.

The next Local Matters Forum is at Petersham Town Hall on Tuesday 28 June, 6pm – 7.30pm.
