Council Launches New Parks and Playground Tool

With Townsville being spoilt for choice boasting well over 300 parks and playgrounds, Council has developed a new online tool making finding that perfect playground a breeze.

Councillor Brodie Phillips said Council's exciting new Parks and Playgrounds webpage was the ultimate guide to all things outdoors in our vibrant city.

"Whether you're a local or just visiting, our webpage is your gateway to exploring Townsville's open spaces like never before," Cr Phillips said.

"The new webpage on Council's website is packed with interactive features making it easier than ever to find the perfect spot to enjoy your day out, by narrowing down on specific fields or amenities.

"You can find what you need using our handy search and filter tools to locate everything from accessible toilets to barbecues, off-leash dog areas to exercise equipment, and much, much more. Whatever you're looking for our Council team have made it simple to find."

New Townsville mother, Britt Hurney said the tool had already helped her find the perfect spots around the city, suiting all her needs.

"As a new mum, you quickly realise how time poor you are, so being able to do a quick search on Council's new park and playgrounds page makes planning my days so much easier when it comes to getting outdoors," Ms Hurney said.

"Being able to narrow down things like parks with public toilets, shelters or off-leash dog parks is a game changer, not to mention the interactive map has saved me plenty of time driving around looking for the perfect playground."

Councillor Phillips said each park and playground was showcased with photographs, detailed descriptions, and a full rundown of available facilities.

"The best part is, you know what to expect when you rock up with a car full of kids, no surprises – just endless outdoor adventures," Cr Phillips said.

"The team has launched the tool with about 100 parks and playgrounds so far, but more will be added in the months and years to come.

"Our goal with this online tool is to enhance the experience of our residents and visitors as they explore Townsville's diverse outdoor spaces.

"From picnics to playdates, there's something here for everyone, and our new digital tool makes it easier to discover and enjoy."
