Campaspe Shire Council is excited to announce work has begun on its first ever Visitor Servicing Strategy. The new Visitor Servicing Strategy aims to guide the future growth and enhancement of the region's tourism offering. It will focus on improving the experience for visitors to Campaspe Shire, ensuring that the region's attractions, services, and facilities are well-coordinated, accessible, and appealing to a wide range of visitors.

Campaspe Shire Mayor, Cr Daniel Mackrell emphasised the importance of tourism to the region, stating, "Tourism is a vital component of our local economy, and this strategy will play a crucial role in supporting and enhancing our tourism industry. By providing seamless, high-quality services and information from the first touchpoint through to post-visit, we aim to create an exceptional visitor experience."

"Our goal is to align this strategy with our broader tourism strategies, such as the Campaspe Economic Development and Tourism Strategy 2024, as well as the Victorian Tourism Industry Council and Murray Regional Tourism Plans," Cr Mackrell said.

The primary objective of this Visitor Servicing Strategy is to create a 5-year action plan that enhances the visitor experience, maximises the impact of key tourism assets, improves accessibility, and encourages visitor dispersal. The strategy will ensure that the region's attractions, natural assets, and heritage are effectively promoted and supported. Additionally, it will make it easier for visitors to navigate the region and access information, inspiring them to explore the wider Shire and its smaller communities. The consultation process with industry and key stakeholders has already commenced, facilitated by renown consumer-led business strategist, Sueanne Carr from Customer Frame.

"It's been fabulous to spend time in the Campaspe Shire this week, working closely with the tourism team at Campaspe Shire Council and industry stakeholders to create the foundations for this exciting strategy.

"We've met with key regional stakeholders, local businesses and visitor servicing staff to workshop the fundamentals for the strategy, not only to set us up for success, but to ensure all stakeholders have a voice in this crucial initiative that will help drive regional prosperity and a buoyant, sustainable visitor economy," Ms Carr said.

"By exploring emerging trends and best practices in visitor services, we can strengthen partnerships with local tourism operators, councils, and industry stakeholders to create a collaborative approach to visitor services," added the mayor.
