National Emergency Medal awarded to Adelaide Hills Council Manager for Cudlee Creek Bushfire Response John McArthur, Ade laide Hills Council 's Manager, Sustainability, Waste and Emergency Management was recently honoured with a National Emergency Medal for his outstanding contribution during the 2019 -2020 Cudlee Creek Bushfire.
John's dedication to providing a safe and effective response during the eme rgency and a well - supported community throughout the recovery is a testament to his leadership.
The National Emergency Medal is awarded to those who have rendered sustained or significant service during nationally significant emergencies.
"Watching John receive the Medal filled me with immense pride for the work we do during the toughest of times, such as the Cudlee Creek Bushfires," said Adelaide Hills Council CEO Greg Georgopoulos.
"I'd like to extend my thanks and congratulations to John for his leadership in coordinating Council's Critical Incident Management Plan and training ahead of the bushfire s that ensure d we were well positioned to provide a positive and sustainable response. " When asked about the award, John said that it was a surprise but that he felt honoured to be recognised.
"As much as I'm receiving the medal, it was certainly a huge team effort and I really view this as recognition of all who were involved at the time," he said.
