Nillumbik Shire Council has been named as one of the best places to work in Australia and New Zealand.
The prestigious annual AFR BOSS Best Places to Work Llist, published by The Australian Financial Review and Boss Magazine, is based on a rigorous assessment process managed by Australia's leading behavioural science consultancy, Inventium.
Almost 1000 organisations from Australia and New Zealand were nominated for the awards across 10 categories and we ranked third in the Government, Education and Not-For-Profit industry category.
Nillumbik was the only local government organisation across Australia and New Zealand to be recognised.
Acting Chief Executive Officer Vince Lombardi said the Council, which is Nillumbik's biggest employer, was honoured to be included on the list.
"We have an incredibly passionate, dedicated and collaborative team who are focused on making a real difference in the Nillumbik community," Mr Lombardi said.
"We have implemented a number of initiatives to support our staff, which has been particularly important over the past year during the COVID-19 pandemic.
"The supports we put in place prior to the pandemic were integral to helping us pivot to a very different way of working during the pandemic, without missing a beat.
"The feedback we've received through staff surveys consistently show high levels of staff satisfaction, wellbeing and feeling supported in the workplace.
"As Nillumbik's biggest employer, we want to be an Employer of Choice in order to attract the best talent to best serve our community."
The assessment for the list was made up of a staff survey and a written submission, with questions relating to policies, practices and programs at Council to support and get the best out of our employees.
The methodology is underpinned by Inventium's Workplaces of the Future framework, which identifies 10 key factors that are critical to employees feeling motivated and engaged at work and is supported by extensive research.
