Visitors to Townsville's city centre will be joyfully surprised by the return of free two-hour parking for the month of December, kicking off this Monday.
Townsville's Acting Mayor Paul Jacob said Council's Christmas initiative was about making it easier for people to shop, dine or visit the city in the lead up to the new year,
"Free two-hour parking gives those visiting the city plenty of time to check out some shops or galleries and grab a bite to eat with friends and family," Cr Jacob said.
"Our city has lots to offer, from great boutiques and specialty stores, to an abundance of cafes and restaurants, so this is a great way for people to check out what's hiding in plain sight by visiting and parking for free.
"People can park in any spot marked with a 2P sign and get two hours of free parking, with no need to use the meter or the Townsville Parking app.
"We want people to head into the city to do some of their holiday shopping with our local traders and make the most of the great offerings we have in the heart of Townsville.
"Remember time restrictions still apply on all 2P spaces, so don't forget to move your car once your allotted two hours is up."
Free two-hour parking in the city centre runs throughout December 2024 in all 2P parking spaces. Time restrictions apply.
Parking fees still apply for all 4P and 8P parking spaces.
